I need to get out of here, ASAP! So on Tuesday morning my boss said to me "You're going to start working at our other site - tomorrow." Yes, that's right...he said tomorrow! So I stayed at work until 8.30 in the evening desparately trying to finish off my work and create notes for Jill so she would know how to do my work once I was gone. I am certainly claiming overtime for that. So yesterday, I drove here and ploughed through the motorway traffic. I hate driving on the motorway because I have an old car (she's almost 20 years old!) and she doesn't like fast roads too much, poor thing. Also, it's such a dangerous place to drive, so many idiots in fast cars. So I got here, parked my car and had to pay for parking They only have 6 parking spaces allocated to my company and there's more than 6 people in this office. All of the spaces were full so I had to pay. I met the lady I'd be working with and we walked to the office, which appears to be a dungeon. It's underground and there's no windows, and obviously because of that, no natural light. It's dark and dingy and I really don't like it. Suddenly at 12:20, I thought "Fuck! Must go and pay for more parking!" So I ran up to the car park to find that I had received a parking ticket. My parking ran out at 11:57 and he got me at 12:10. Grrrrr. Work won't pay for this, so I have to. I refuse to pay for it because it's not my fault that they don't have enough allocated spaces for my company. So here's the letter I wrote to them. I've obviously had to change a few bits cos I don't want the whole world knowing who I work for and where

"I am writing to you so I may challenge the parking ticket that I received on 07/05/08. I have attached a photocopy of the ticket notification for your reference. I work for Ratastic Construction who are currently working on the Shopping Centre, which is where I received my ticket. I started my first day today with Ratastic Construction at the Shopping Centre and had to pay for parking because there are very few allocated parking spaces for the Ratastic staff. When I had arrived, there were no allocated parking spaces left.
At 12pm today, my ticket ran out but unfortunately I was being shown around site with Ratastic Construction, so I could not get to my car on time. When I came out to my car shortly after, I had received a parking ticket.

I am angry because there should be more than a small selection of spaces allocated, and because of this, I received a parking ticket. I did not do it intentionally and it’s not like I left my car there without having paid any parking at all. My day was stressful enough with it being my first day with Ratastic at the Shopping Centre, and receiving a parking ticket just made it even more distressing. I would very much appreciate it if you reviewed the situation.

Let's hope it bloody works because there's no way I'm paying for it! On another note, I have been told that I won't get my mileage paid for because I'm travelling the same distance as before, despite the fact that I didn't want to be moved and that I am now driving on the motorway which will create more wear and tear on my car. So I am desparately searching for a new job. I've been with this company for almost one year now and I have really enjoyed it up until now. I feel like I have been treated unfairly, what with not even being given 24 hours notice. Completely crazy. The sooner I find a new job, the better. I want to hand in my notice as soon as I can.
